I HAVE COMMITTED EVERY SPARE MINUTE OF THE LAST THREE YEARS, GETTING TO KNOW AND UNDERSTAND THE COMPLEX RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN PAEDAGOGY AND THE ONLINE WORLD. I AM AS CURIOUS AS EVER, AND WISH TO SHARE WHAT I HAVE LEARNED WITH OTHERS.
I HAVE INCLUDED MANY LINKS TO SITES WRITTEN AND PUBLISHED IN MY DAILY PRACTICE.
THANK YOU FOR LOOKING, SINCERELY,
JUDITH COMFORT
TEACHER-LIBRARIAN
DR. CHARLES BEST SECONDARY SCHOOL LIBRARY
Judith Comfort is a master teacher-librarian; as well she should be... after racking up over three decades of time and experience as a teacher, librarian, professional writer & editor.
2005 - the present
Judith’s life was re-created when she discovered online publishing in 2005. Since then has used it in her daily teaching practice. Opportunities for writing have exploded with the changing online world. She has used her expertise in digital content, search, literacy and online publishing in day-to-day support for students and teachers and collaborative lessons with teachers. This has resulted in an entirely transparent practice, which is useful in illustrating to others what the hay she does all day.
Being ever vigilant to the hype of the Internet (which she has also written about) it would be safe to say that her real and digital worlds are perfectly integrated.
She believes that the essence of being a good librarian is a generosity of spirit, and that her open school library publications give her an opportunity to express it.
1995 - 2005
Judith has spent the last 11 years working in Middle and Secondary schools libraries in District #43 as well as teaching English and a dog’s breakfast of Middle School courses.
1970 - 1995
Trained at the Winnipeg Public and Dartmouth Regional Libraries, she learned a very important lesson about public service. She brought this approach to Liverpool Regional High School, in rural Nova Scotia and stayed for eleven years before changing her career to become a freelance writer. She learned how to write from her home a few steps away from the Atlantic shore and after ten years, 8 travel and food books and many magazines articles, she moved to Vancouver, wrote another book and taught writing courses at Langara.
